Every certificate of analysis Advanced Cultivators has published, in one place. Each row links to the laboratory's original PDF. Search by strain name, lab, sample ID or batch.

Published certificates

The table shows potency and terpene figures, which come from the certificate for one tested batch. Contaminant screens and everything else on the certificate are on the PDF. Potency and terpene levels vary from batch to batch.

Lab results pending

These upcoming strains have no certificate of analysis yet, so they have no row above and no figures anywhere on the site. They are added when a laboratory reports.

How to read a COA

A certificate of analysis (COA) is a laboratory report on one tested sample. This is how to read the parts of one, in the order they usually appear.

What a COA is

A COA is the report a testing laboratory issues after it analyses a sample from a batch. It lists what the lab measured, how much of it, and the method and limits it used. In Massachusetts the laboratory is an independent facility licensed by the Cannabis Control Commission, not the grower.

A COA describes the sample that was tested. The next batch gets its own certificate, so two jars of the same strain can carry different numbers.

Start with the sample details

The top of the certificate names the client, the product, the sample type, and a sample ID and batch or lot number. The sample ID is how the laboratory ties the report to one harvest, so it is the first thing to match when you compare a certificate to a jar or to the table above.

Look for two dates as well: when the lab received the sample and when it reported. A certificate that cannot be matched to a sample ID and a date is hard to check.

Cannabinoids: the potency section

Potency is listed compound by compound, each as a percentage of the sample's weight. Raw flower holds most of its THC as THCA, the acid form, which converts to THC when heated. Labs therefore report total THC, calculated as THC plus 0.877 times THCA. Total THC is the number to compare between products.

Total active cannabinoids (TAC or total cannabinoids) adds up every cannabinoid the lab measured, so it is always higher than total THC. The two are different numbers and should not be compared with each other.

"ND" means not detected, and "<LOQ" means below the laboratory's limit of quantitation. Neither means zero in a strict sense: both mean the amount was too small to measure with that method.

Terpenes

Terpenes are the aroma compounds in the plant. The terpene section lists each one the lab tested as a percentage of weight, then a total. The ones at the top of the list are what the sample smells like, so they describe aroma and flavor and nothing else.

Laboratories test slightly different lists of terpenes, so compare terpene totals only between certificates from the same lab and panel.

Contaminant screens

Massachusetts requires licensed cannabis to be tested for contaminants before it can be sold, including pesticides, heavy metals, microbial contaminants, mycotoxins and moisture. The certificate shows the result for each screen next to the limit it was judged against, and marks it pass or fail.

A batch that fails cannot go to market as it is. The pass or fail results for AC batches are on each laboratory PDF, which is why this page links to every one.

What a COA does not tell you

A COA is a lab record. It says what was in one sample on the day it was tested. It does not say how a product tastes, how fresh a jar is today, or how any person will respond to it, and nothing on this site makes a claim about health or effects.

Labs also differ by a few percentage points on the same sample, because methods and equipment differ. Read potency as a range, not an exact figure.

How to check a certificate is the real one

Open the PDF from the lab link in the table, then match the sample ID, the lab name and the report date to the row. On an AC package, the QR code opens the batch record for that harvest on this site. If a store has a different certificate for the same strain, ask which batch it covers.

COA questions

What is a COA?

A certificate of analysis is a testing laboratory's report on one sample from a batch. It lists the potency, terpenes and contaminant screens that were measured, with the method and limits used.

What is the difference between total THC and THCA?

THCA is the acid form found in raw flower, and it converts to THC when heated. Total THC combines the two, calculated as THC plus 0.877 times THCA, and is the figure to compare between products.

What does ND mean on a COA?

ND means not detected: the compound was too low to measure with the laboratory's method. "<LOQ" means below the limit of quantitation.

Why do two batches of the same strain have different numbers?

Each batch is grown, cured and tested on its own, and a certificate describes only the sample that was tested. Match the sample ID to the jar you are looking at.

Where do the results in this library come from?

Each row links to the testing laboratory's original PDF. The figures in the table are read from that certificate, and a field the certificate does not show is left out.
