Pre-Roll Sizes in Grams
Pre-roll size is the weight of flower inside the paper, printed on the package as net weight. Paper length is a different thing. This page lays out the sizes you will see and how to read them.
Read the net weight, not the name
A flower label must give the net weight or volume in U.S. customary and metric units, listed in that order(CMR label rule).
So the number to compare is the weight on the package. Brands name sizes differently. "Slim", "king" and "joint" describe the paper or the shape, not the weight. For a pack, the label weight is the total of every roll in the package, so a pack of three half-gram rolls reads 1.5 grams. The rule is written for flower sold as flower and does not name pre-rolls, so the same label may be laid out differently on a pre-roll.
Sizes AC makes
| Size | What it is | How AC sells it |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 gram | Half a gram of flower in one roll | Packs of 2 or 3 rolls |
| 1 gram | One gram of flower in one roll | Single roll in a tube |
| 1.5 gram | A larger roll, a blunt wrap on some strains | Single |
Paper length versus flower weight
Papers are sold in standard lengths, with names such as 1 1/4 and king size. A longer paper can hold more, but how much depends on how finely the flower is ground and how hard it is packed. Two rolls of the same paper can carry different weights, which is why the label weight is the fair comparison.
Ounce math, if you are counting
The statute allows possessing, using, purchasing, processing or manufacturing 2 ounces or less of marijuana or the equivalent amount of marijuana products as determined by the commission(session law).
One ounce is about 28.35 grams, so two ounces is a little over 56 grams, which is about 56 one-gram pre-rolls. The possession and purchase limits page covers the rest of the rules, including how concentrates and edibles are counted.
Short answers
What is a standard pre-roll size?
There is no standard size in the label rule, which only requires the net weight to be printed. Sizes vary by brand, and the weight on the package is the size.
How many grams is a king size pre-roll?
King size describes the paper length, not a weight. Check the net weight on the package.
Does a pack of pre-rolls show each roll or the total?
The net weight on a flower label is the weight of the package. Divide by the number of rolls to get the weight of each one.
