A Massachusetts treatment center checks your registration card and a government photo ID before it sells to you. This page lists what to bring and what happens at the door.
Bring these
Staff must inspect your temporary or annual registration card and your government-issued identification when you enter(state regulation).
The identification card must contain a name, photograph and date of birth, and be a driver's license, a government issued identification card, a military identification card or a passport(state regulation).

What the dispensary checks
A treatment center may dispense only to a registered patient who has a current valid certification(state regulation).
A treatment center must refuse to sell to a patient or caregiver who cannot produce a registration card and valid proof of identification, or who has no valid certification in the Commission database(state regulation).
A treatment center must also refuse to dispense if its agent thinks the patient or the public would be placed at risk, and it must then notify the patient's certifying provider within 24 hours(state regulation).
If you are under 18 or a caregiver
Qualifying patients younger than 18 do not need a separate means of identification to enter a treatment center(state regulation).
A qualifying patient younger than 18 cannot enter a treatment center without their caregiver(state regulation).
To access treatment centers and obtain medical-use marijuana on behalf of a patient with a temporary registration card, the Caregiver must present the patient's temporary Registration Card, a completed and signed temporary caregiver authorization form, and a government-issued identification document(state regulation).
What you can buy and how much
For a patient certified for 60 days or longer, a treatment center may dispense no more than a 60-day supply in each 60-day period(state regulation).
A 60-day supply is ten ounces unless the certifying provider determines otherwise(state regulation).
A 14-day supply is 2.5 ounces unless the certifying provider determines otherwise(state regulation).
A temporary registration expires 14 days after the Commission issues the registration card, or when the annual card is issued and received, whichever occurs first(state regulation).
